Export a ChatGPT chat to Word (DOCX)
Pasting a ChatGPT answer into Word usually brings odd fonts, grey backgrounds and broken lists. A real .docx export gives you a document you can edit, comment and send.
Why copy-paste goes wrong
When you copy from the chat page, Word receives the page's HTML: web fonts, background colours and list markup that Word converts unevenly. Tables often lose their borders and code loses its monospace font.
Export with Talkmere (Pro)
- Open the conversation and click the Talkmere icon.
- Click Word. A
.docxfile is saved.
The file uses Word's own styles: Heading 1–6, List Paragraph with real numbering, a bordered table style and a Code style in Consolas. Links stay clickable. With Include images on, pictures from the chat are embedded.
Open it anywhere
The same file opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs (upload it to Drive), LibreOffice Writer and Apple Pages. Because the formatting uses named styles, you can restyle the whole document in one go.
Talkmere saves the open conversation from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Grok as Markdown, HTML or JSON for free, and as PDF or Word with Pro. It runs in your browser – nothing is uploaded.
Questions
Is DOCX free?
No, Word export is part of Pro ($9 for a year or $19 lifetime). Markdown, HTML and JSON are free – HTML also opens in Word.
Are equations converted to Word equations?
Not yet: math is kept as LaTeX text in a code font, so nothing is lost and you can convert it in Word's equation editor.
