Export a Gemini chat
Gemini can send a single response to Google Docs, and Google Takeout can download your Gemini activity. Neither gives you the whole conversation as one tidy file – here is how each option works.
Export one response to Google Docs
Under a response, open Share & export and choose Export to Docs. A new Google Doc is created in your Drive with that response. Repeat for each answer you want; your prompts are not included.
Google Takeout: your Gemini activity
On takeout.google.com choose Deselect all, select My Activity, open “All activity data included”, keep only Gemini Apps, then create the export. You get your prompts and responses as activity records (HTML or JSON) – useful as a backup, hard to read as conversations. Deleted activity is not included.
The whole chat in one file
- Open the conversation on gemini.google.com.
- Click the Talkmere icon. Leave “Scroll up first to load older messages” on – Gemini loads older turns only when you scroll.
- Choose Markdown, HTML or JSON (free) or PDF / Word (Pro).
The hidden “You said” labels and the collapsed “Show thinking” panel are left out; code blocks keep their language.
Talkmere saves the open conversation from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Grok as Markdown, HTML or JSON for free, and as PDF or Word with Pro. It runs in your browser – nothing is uploaded.
Questions
Does Export to Docs include my prompts?
No, it exports a response. Talkmere exports both sides of the conversation.
Why are older messages missing?
Gemini loads earlier turns as you scroll up. Keep the “Scroll up first” option on, or scroll to the top before exporting.
