Save a Claude chat as a file

Updated 2026-11-02

claude.ai keeps your chats in the sidebar, but there's no button to download one conversation. These are your options, from built-in to one click.

Built-in options

  • Copy under an answer copies that answer as Markdown.
  • Share creates a link to a snapshot of the chat – it's a public link, so think before sharing private content (see share privately).
  • Settings → Privacy → Export data sends you a .zip with all conversations (see the Claude data export).

One conversation in one click

  1. Install Talkmere and open the chat on claude.ai.
  2. Click the Talkmere icon.
  3. Choose Markdown, HTML or JSON (free), or PDF / Word (Pro).

Your prompts and Claude's answers are labelled, code blocks keep their language (the little “bash”/“python” label above Claude's code is used as the language and not repeated as text), and tables stay tables.

Artifacts and attachments

Talkmere exports what the conversation shows. Artifacts that open in the side panel are not part of the message text – open the artifact and use its own download button. Files you attached appear in the official data export as file names.

Talkmere saves the open conversation from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Grok as Markdown, HTML or JSON for free, and as PDF or Word with Pro. It runs in your browser – nothing is uploaded.
